The BBC is going all out to celebrate the 50th birthday of its iconic sci-fi series Doctor Who. So, no, smartphone and tablet gamers aren't being left out of the party.

Over the weekend, the Beeb announced that it's releasing Doctor Who: Legacy, a free-to-play title for iOS and Android. It's a collaboration between the BBC, Tiny Rebel Games, and Seed Studio.

We don't know much about the game yet, other than that it's "coming soon".

It doesn't take a time machine to work out that it'll probably hit the App Store and Google Play Store around the same time as the 50th anniversary edition of the show is aired, i.e. November 23rd.

Just one screenshot has been released for Doctor Who: Legacy, which you can check out above.

That's about it in terms of details, though, leaving us flailing wildly as we wait for some more concrete information.

Of course, the second we dig anything up, we'll hurl it in the general direction of your eyes and brains. Because that's the kinda people we are.
