Did you know Pikachu was a detective? No?

Well, he is. Or, at least, he will be in his next video game outing, which should be hitting 3DS in 2015.

By the looks of things, this untitled game will feature creepy facial recognition software that enables you to map your own expressions onto the yellow lightning rat.

Apparently, you will also be able to use "playfulness" as your secret weapon in this new game. It doesn't sound as useful as a rocket launcher, but we're willing to give it a try.

Pikachu's next adventure was revealed on Japanese television show Professional-Style of Work - you can see some vaguely terrifying screengrabs from the relevant episode of the show below.

Whether this new Pokemon game will ever be released in the West is anyone's guess at the moment. Considering it won't be out until 2015, though, things are likely still at a very early stage.

As ever, we'll let you know when we hear anything else about the game. Oh, and we'll definitely post more creepy images of laughing Pikachu whenever we get the chance.
