[Update] Ravensword: Shadowlands update 'Realm of the Ancients' will introduce new areas, werewolves
Updated on October 30th, at 16:09: The huge Realm of the Ancients update is now available for Ravensword: Shadowlands for free on iOS.

Crescent Moon says it's heading to Android, too, but it's "not quite ready just yet".

What's more, the game is on sale for 69p / 99c. The sale's in effect on the App Store right now. The game will be on sale in Google Play real soon.

Almost immediately upon release, Ravensword: Shadowlands got called a great many things - "enthralling", "epic", and "Skyrim for iPhones".

Now, like Skyrim, it's set to receive an update so massive that it's got its own name: Realm of the Ancients.

In this update, which is due out on Halloween, Crescent Moon Games will introduce an entire new area to the game - the Kingdom of Tyreas.

This zone will be quite the challenge for players, and will feature all-new enemies to fight and a new boss werewolf to overcome as well.

Sister site Pocketgamer.fr reports that it'll also include a new magic rune for players to collect that'll allow them to scare their enemies. We don't know if that stone will work on the boss werewolf, but we kind of think the answer there will be "no".

Happily, the update will also introduce the API for iOS 7 controllers that should appear on the market any day now.

In our review of Ravensword: Shadowlands, we said it was "as big and open an RPG as you're likely to get on iOS" owing to its massive world full of cities, hubs, and caves for players to explore.

The plot was a bit one-dimensional (collect Ravenstones, get Ravensword, save world, etc.), but most players had an easy time overlooking that as they explored the world of "one of the best iOS RPGs of 2012".

Those interested in downloading Ravensword: Shadowlands can do so for $6.99 / £4.99.
