Joan Mad Run is the type of game that the national newspapers write headlines about.

"Joan Mad Run is a game where killing is an art," says Julia Ponomareva of Happy Magenta.

"Each weapon is a meticulously designed masterpiece turning each death into a spectacular and bloody show. It may sound pompous, but we paid attention to the tiniest details to make it true."

"Never before has torture been so exquisite".

For this, very perverse, reason, this is one of few endless runners that I actually have an urge to play. For all the bad publicity violent games get in the public eye, there's no use denying that they can be satisfying and entertaining.

Especially when they involve shoving a satanic pig's head on the end of a gun to spread the red insides of your foe in all directions, as you can see in the image below.

Joan Mad Run

You play as the eponymous Joan, who awakens in a prison cell with no clue as to where she is, how she got there, or why she's there. She's not even sure who she is.

Naturally, she decides that breaking out is her best option, and so she goes on a "mad run" to find out the truth. To Joan, everyone who gets in the way deserves a squelchy death. That's prison guards, secret agents, and giant mutants, and more.

"Besides traditional murder methods like shooting and chopping, you can satisfy your bloodlust by igniting your enemies and watching them burn alive, freezing them or melting them with acid, striking them with a lightning, inflating and exploding them or squeezing them with your foot just like bugs," Ponomareva tells us.

You can see it all in action in the new gameplay video. Watch out for the "BLOODLUST" power up; that's nasty.

With no buttons, and simple swipe controls to move Joan up and down tiers as she murders her way across the screen, Joan Mad Run should allow for an unadulterated gore show.

Currently, Joan Mad Run is in beta, but it seems to be ramping up towards the final stretch of development. When it's ready for iPad and iPhone, we'll let you know.
