Back in August, we very eager to inform you of a Power Rangers-inspired, squad-based strategy game called Chroma Squad on Kickstarter.

Maybe a little too eager.

Writing on Facebook, the Knights of Pen & Paper dev, Behold Studios, announced that the launch of Chroma Squad has been delayed until 2014.

"For the last 6 months we were working on the Chroma Squad game. In the meantime, we did the Kickstarter campaign which was a huge success, but it cost our precious development time," it reads.

Not only has the development time of Chroma Squad been eaten into, with late nights and office sleepovers not being enough to claw it back, but a bunch of new ideas came out of the Kickstarter.

"We want to include the ideas that come up during the Kickstarter campaign, including the Rider episodes and more of the studio customization options, so this is something we would do in these 3 months delay," Behold explains.

As an apology for the delay, and as thanks for the support, Behold shared Chroma Squad's IGF 2014 gameplay trailer.

The video reveals Chroma Squad's gameplay to be not-so-distant from Knights of Pen & Paper's, with plenty of squad management, and tactical combat options among the elegant pixel art.

The main difference is that everything takes place in a TV studio, and so you have a director jumping out of the bushes yelling specific orders. Make sure to strike the finishing pose for the cameras.

Delays are no bad thing. Chroma Squad is already looking like a solid title, so when it mighty morphs on to Android and iOS in 2014 it'll hopefully be even better.
