Apple CEO Tim Cook has declared iOS 7 as the "biggest software update in history", with 200 million devices having upgraded to the firmware within its first five days.

Speaking during the firm's latest press blitz in San Francisco, Cook claimed 62 percent of iOS devices are currently running the latest version of the firmware.

The numbers game

As is traditional at such events, the stats continued early on, with Cook revealing that there are now 1 million apps on the App Store, generating a total of 60 billion downloads.

"When we see customer response like this, it makes all the hard work worthwhile," detailed Cook.

"The App Store remains the best place for developers to be rewarded for their creativity. It's hard to imagine your life without these brilliant apps. It's been an amazing sea change."

In all, Apple has paid out $13 billion to developers to date.
