Nitrome has updated Gold Award-winning physics-puzzler Icebreaker: A Viking Voyage with a new mission system

Icebreaker: A Viking Voyage has been updated. But if you're hoping for new levels, you're out of luck. That's because, well, Nitrome is still working on those.

In this new update, though, Nitrome does add achievements - or "missions" - to the game. These are set by The Watcher, a new character in an airship who hovers over levels watching your performance.

As you'd imagine from a game about stumpy Vikings chopping up ice, most of the challenges are a bit silly.

In one, you slash up a chicken before it can get off screen. Others, meanwhile, are all about finding treasure or spotting Vikings that look a bit different from the others.

It might not be the extra level pack for which fans of the game have been clamouring, but this extra gameplay dimension is certainly appreciated.

We gave Icebreaker: A Viking Voyage a Gold Award at review, calling it "witty, varied, challenging and gorgeous to look at". We then added that the game "is one of the finest physics-based puzzlers on iOS and an outstanding start for Rovio Stars".

This latest update is available on the App Store right now. And version 1.2, with new levels and a sea monster, should be on the way soon.
