If you scooped up most of the trends in modern gaming, dumped them into a whisk, then hit 'go', you'd probably end up with something that looked / tasted a bit like Dead Effect.

Well, this brain-dead undead brain blaster is now available on the Google Play Store, so Android gamers can see just how much guilty fun the FPS can provide.

You wake up in a seemingly abandoned spaceship with only a voice on your space radio for company.

Then, you get attacked by zombies. It's up to you to kill the undead and find out what's been going on.

The game is undeniably good looking, and there's a decent splosh of gore here (if that's the sort of thing you're into).

The combat is meaty and challenging, and there's some light puzzling thrown in for good measure.

At review, we called the iOS version of the game "a big silly shooter with lots of zombies to plough through". We then added that "Dead Effect is far from a classic, but it is brainless fun", and gave the game a Bronze Award.

Interestingly, the Android version of the game is free to download and features IAPs, while the iOS version was a premium title.

You can grab Dead Effect from the Google Play Store right now for nothing at all.
