Apple announces October 22 event, new iPad and iPad mini expected

Surprising few in the mobile scene, Apple has sent out formal invitations for a keynote event on October 22.

True to form, the invitations were light on information and provided absolutely no hints about a dress code for those who'd be in attendance.

In fact, all they really said was a single sentence, "We still have a lot to cover."

As to what's going to be covered, odds are favouring the announcement of a new iPad and a retina display iPad mini although, refreshes to Apple's non-mobile products like the Retina MacBook Pros and iMacs are also probable.

Another more tempting possibility is the unveiling of the upcoming iOS 7 controllers to go with the ever-growing list of iOS titles that currently support them. That'd be nice.

But only time, and Apple, will tell what next week's event will unveil. Be sure to check back here to follow our liveblog coverage of the event.
