This week's Famitsu magazine revealed an interesting gem for those who like to plant crops and stare at adorable bovines.

That's right, a new Harvest Moon game is on its way to the 3DS. Subtitled Tsunagari Shintench, which translates to something like Linking (or Connecting) the New World, this new game is 80 per cent complete and confirmed for a Japanese release in 2014.

The link/connection element relates to trade between countries within the game world - which is a major theme in the new Harvest Moon title that lets you export goods to far-flung nations.

Lions, and tigers, and bears

If this doesn't sound exciting enough, you'll also be able to take a break from farming to visit a safari where you can encounter and take care of wild animals.

Gematsu reports that the farming and fieldwork of Harvest Moon: Linking the New World will be easier, but that the overall flow of the game will remain unchanged.

This means you'll be able to play as a male or female character - just like in Harvest Moon: A New Beginning - and that you'll be able to find a partner for your character to fall in love with.

Finally, Linking the New World will also offer a StreetPass setting that lets you swap personal data with other players.

We don't know when or if this will make its way to the west, but we'll keep you updated as soon as we know more.
