Think of a racing game.

Let me guess. Screeching tyres, shiny bonnets, and tarmac? Right?

You're wrong.

Dog Sled Saga is a very different type of racing game. Forget about all that refuelling malarkey. Here, you need to pat a dog and throw it a treat.

Snow business

You compete in races in Dog Sled Saga across snowy terrain, pulled along by your own team of dogs that you'll get to know on a pet / owner level.

The racing itself is one-button pick-up-and-play-style action. The speed at which your sled-pulling dogs can travel is dependent on how hungry they are. This means that you need to lob doggy treats at them to keep them in top nick.

You'll need to keep your eye out for hazards on the track, by the way. Dedicated players should also be able to uncover and exploit deeper play systems to gain an advantage.

Dog Sled Saga is one of those games into which you'll have to invest a serious amount of time. While chucking treats to your dogs will result in their getting a quick boost, looking after them in between races is vital.

The better you do, the more money you earn. With that extra dough, you can buy new gear, hire better dogs, and climb the leagues.

Furthermore, you'll need to decide whether to pander to the press, fans, your league, or a mysterious guild. Each faction has its own definition of success, so you'll have to decide which is best for you.

You may be familiar with Dog Sled Saga already, for it was successfully Kickstarted back in May. There hasn't been much word about the game since, but we'll put that down to the developer being hard at work.

Hopefully, we'll have it running on our Android and iOS devices soon.
