Microids has been making adventure games since the 1990s, and is responsible for genre classics like the Syberia series, Still Life, and Amerzone.

So, the Paris-based studio knows precisely what makes a good adventure game.

This makes the company's incoming iPad game Dream Chamber especially noteworthy.

Set in the 1930s, Dream Chamber immediately impresses with its mood setting. Here, Microids depicts cluttered urban crime scenes through carefully illustrated graphics.

A right Charlie

Dream Chamber is intended to be part-serious crime investigation mystery and part-amusing character comedy. The game's main character, Charlie, is the very personification of this notion.

Rich heir Charlie has decided on a whim to become a private detective. He does have one special highly relevant skill, mind. He can revisit crime scenes in his dreams to find clues that are apparently anchored in his subconscious.

As is standard in this particular gaming genre, you can expect to be collecting objects and combining them to solve puzzles in Dream Chamber.

Dream Chamber

The crime at the centre of the Dream Chamber story isn't just any old one, by the way. Specifically, it's one in which Charlie is involved on a personal level, for his girlfriend has some jewellery stolen from her.

So, you'll be joining Charlie on a little urban adventure trying to track down a nimble thief, and using his unique abilities to do so.

Dream Chamber is slated for release on iPad on October 24th, so there's not long to wait for this one. Unfortunately, Microids hasn't issued any pricing details for it as yet.
