Square Enix confirms a whole host of Dragon Quest games are heading to iOS and Android

If you're a fan of Japanese RPGs but you hate buttons, this might well be the story for which you've been waiting your entire weird life to read.

Square Enix has confirmed that it's porting the vast majority of the Dragon Quest series to iOS and Android.

So, that's Dragon Quest 1 through 8, inclusive. That also means Dragon Quest Monsters, which is a bit like Pokemon, is heading our way.

Squeenix's attack on the App Store has been rather hit and miss of late.

For every core Final Fantasy game it's ported across to iOS, you see, there's a Final Fantasy: All The Bravest. And for every Chaos Rings II, there's a Final Fantasy: All The Bravest.

This could dragon forever

Still, this is massive news. And it shows that the Japanese giant is intent on taking iOS and Android seriously, which can only be good news for fans of spiky-haired angst and large world maps.

A few words of warning, though: Square Enix hasn't confirmed that it will release these games in the US and the UK.

It would be madness if Square didn't release them over in the West, but we're going to wait until we've got official word before we bust out our 'Dragon Quest is heading to smartphones' dance.

We'll keep you updated about prices, release dates, and all the rest of that gubbins as soon as we find out anything more concrete.
