[Update] Shantae: Half-Genie Hero's Kickstarter unlocks another bonus level as it draws to a close
Update at 11:45pm EST - Shantae's backers prove that they *really* wanted that costume swap mode. The third stretch goal for $700,000 has been reached with a little over 12 hours left in the campaign. The original story follows.

The Kickstarter for Shantae: Half-Genie Hero is entering into its final hours, and backers have managed to push it to within striking distance of its third stretch goal.

When we reported on the PS Vita-bound platformer last week, I might have said that the $500,00 stretch goal was as high as Half-Genie hero could climb.

Now I'm happy to admit that I was flat out wrong as it's sitting at about $650,000 with 20 hours left in its campaign.

The last minute surge in backers unlocked both the 'Risky Mode', which allows players to play a separate campaign staring Shantae's pirate nemesis Risky Boots, and a carpet-flying chapter at Cape Crustacean.

If Half-Genie Hero manages a last-minute push to hit the $700,000 mark, backers will unlock a 'Costume Swap' mode that introduces three new costumes for Shantae to wear.

Far from a simple palette swap, these costumes come with their rebalanced stats and special moves like beach ball tossing and pellet gun attacks.

Assuming that you read this before Friday night, there's still time to contribute to the Kickstarter and make this Costume Swap dream a reality.

Additionally, those who pledge over $12 will receive backer-exclusive alternate costumes for Risky Boots and Shantae along with a 'Drifter Blade' sword that you can unlock after completing a quest in Risky Mode.

If you're interested in backing the project, or just learning more about it, feel free to head on over to its Kickstarter page.
