Archos's leaked Android-powered GamePad 2 could be available in the not-too-distant future

There aren't that many dedicated Android gaming devices available. Those that are, however, have been a little on the shonky side.

The Archos GamePad was probably the best attempt yet, though even this was an unwieldy beast that chugged at a less-than-optimal pace. Plus, it lacked the support it needed to really make a mark.

Well, it looks like Archos is going to have another bite at the Android cherry with the Archos GamePad 2. If a now-removed product listing for the Hong Kong Electronics Fair Autumn Edition is to be believed, that is.

According to the listing, which was spotted by ArcTablet, the Gamepad 2 is less of a complete refresh and more of a gradual upgrade. And it now comes in black, as you can see from the image below.
The Gamepad 2 will apparently sport 2GB of RAM, a 1280x700 IPS display, a 1.6 GHz quad-core CPU, and a quad-core GPU. Those aren't the most impressive specs, sure, but it should mean the device has more oomph than its predecessor.

Archos's leaked 'tabtroller' will have 8 or 16GB of on-board flash memory. Thanks to a microSD card slot, though, it's expandable up to 64GB.

We've no word yet on pricing or availability for the Archos GamePad 2, but we'll let you know when we have any more official details on what could be the most interesting Android gaming device yet.
