FIFA 14 is out right now for free on the App Store and Google Play

It's that time of year again.
The nights are closing in; the final rays of summer have been blanked out by the grey death of late September; and EA has released another football game for iOS and Android.
That's right, folks: FIFA 14 is out now on the App Store and the Google Play Store.
In this new instalment of the venerable footy franchise, EA has integrated a new free-to-play model; debuted some swipe-and-tap touchscreen controls; and supplied a whole host of new players and kits to make your digital footballing experience all the more real.
You can still use traditional joypad controls if you'd like, mind. There are several modes to get your teeth into here, some of which you can only unlock after an IAP. That's okay, though, because you get a decent chunk of the game for free to try out first.
Included in that free chunk is Ultimate Team mode, which is like a CCG with footballing men instead of monsters. EA has also included a few other single-player and multiplayer modes as part of the freebie 'deal'.
The real meat of the experience for most, though, is Manager mode, which costs £2.99 / $4.99 and enables you to unlock the content forever.
It looks like the mobile version of FIFA 14 is going to be the only one with any sort of fresh content, for both the Vita and the 3DS versions of the game are just re-skins of last year's iterations.
