Sony wants you to play PlayStation games on as many different devices as possible

Sony isn't content with taking over the space under your TV. It wants to be your go-to company for gaming on as many devices as possible, you see. Maybe even your toaster.

Speaking with Japanese site Dengeki Online, SCE president of worldwide studios Shuhei Yoshida outlined a grand plan for the future of PlayStation.

"Speaking of the ultimate goal, we would like to deliver PlayStation games to all devices. So we're considering various things like PC, TVs, Blu-ray players, smartphones, and tablets. We hope to continue to expand not only to Sony devices, but even to devices other than Sony's."

Play no longer stationed

This comes after last week's news that you will be able to stream mobile games via the PlayStation smartphone app using your PS4 as a hub.

And that came after Sony unveiled its currently Japan-only micro-console the PS Vita TV. It's fair to say, then, that Sony has a lot of irons in the fire.

"We previously spoke about PlayStation going from hardware to something closer to a service, regardless of the device," Yoshida continued.

"Of course PlayStation will still be the centre, but I think we would like to expand to different things."

Different things like toasters? Only time will tell.
