River City Ransom: Underground could come to PS Vita if newly announced $280k stretch goal is reached

No, you haven't travelled back in time. There really is a new River City Ransom game in the works.

And Conatus Creative has acquired the official license needed to develop River City Ransom: Underground as a proper sequel to the 1989 beat 'em up, so don't expect it to fade away under legal papers.

As with the majority of the recent bout of franchise revivals, Underground is seeking funding on Kickstarter.

Initially, it was announced as a Windows-only title, but a recent update added a $280k stretch goal that would see a PS4 and PS Vita port, too.

As the Kickstarter rolls on, there could be additional stretch goals announced that would bring the game to even more platforms too.

If we go into speculation mode and take a look at Conatus's LinkedIn page, it says that its own cross-platform engine, FWD, "targets iOS, Android, Mac, Windows, Xbox, and beyond." It seems the potential for more platforms is there.

For now, let's focus on trying to get the game on PS Vita. How could we resist the modern sequel a classic 2.5D brawler on Sony's handheld?
