Silver Award-winning crime solver Layton Brothers: Mystery Room hits the Google Play Store

The Layton Brothers have finally made their way onto Android with the release of point-and-click crime solver Layton Brothers: Mystery Room.

The game has already been out on iOS for a couple of months. We liked it enough to give it a Silver Award, saying that "this Layton may not take after his famous dad, but his thrilling, fast-paced mysteries make this the gaming equivalent of a page-turner."

As you might have guessed from that review snippet, this time around you're playing as Alfendi Layton, the son of the DS version's Hershel Layton.

Layton Brothers: Mystery Room has a darker tone than its DS-based siblings, with Alfendi prone to mood swings as you try and solve a series of grisly murders from inside his crime lab at Scotland Yard.

You play as Alfendi's assistant Lucy, so you'll need to inspect crime scenes, find pertinent pieces of information, then interview the correct suspect to find out more.

All the while, Alfendi will be assessing your progress. He's Sherlock to your Watson, albeit minus the deerstalker hat and pipe.

Like the iOS version of Layton Brothers: Mystery Room, the first chunk of the Android edition is free, with subsequent chapters available as IAPs.
