For no discernible reason, soaked-through auto-run puzzler Sprinkle Islands is currently free on the App Store.

In this game, you are put in control of a ramshackle fire engine, which rolls through picturesque cartoon landscapes to tend to burning huts. You'll need to direct the water cannon to put out fires and solve physics puzzles.

You'll also have to face some monster boss battles as you work through the game's five worlds and 60 levels.

In our Bronze Award review, we uttered the following noises: "Simple and linear, Sprinkle Islands never allows room to think, but it's reasonably entertaining all the same."

Which is about the most half-hearted recommendation I've ever heard. But, whatever - it's Friday, the game's pretty good fun, and it's free. Jam it on your iPhone or iPad.

Sorry, Android fans: the game's still 85p / 99c on Google Play.
