Updated on September 5th, at 09:15: Ubisoft has posted over on its official website to say that the missing Invasion levels in the Vita version of Rayman Legends will be added as free DLC at a later date. We've posted the statement below.

"Due to a longer development time than expected, we couldn't initially include the Invasion Mode - essentially, a second take on existing Rayman Legends maps - in the Vita version of the game. However, we can confirm that the Invasion Mode will be added via a free patch, at a later date."

Original story follows...

Gamers over on NeoGAF have noticed that the Vita version of Ubisoft's Rayman Legends is missing 28 levels that are present in the home console edition.

These 28 levels are the invasion stages. According to GAFfer mullet2000, these are "speed run style levels that combine the level and enemy layouts of two other levels and challenge you to do them as quickly as possible".

This news runs counter to an original press release for the Vita port - from May - in which Ubisoft said "*Rayman Legends* on Vita includes all of the original Rayman Legends content".

On the subject of the 'missing' levels, a Ubisoft spokesperson has told Pocket Gamer that "unfortunately we can't comment at all". We're led to believe, however, that an official statement on the matter is forthcoming.

The Vita version DOES have five exclusive maps, mind, all of which are playable with Murphy (the greenbottle fly seen in previous Rayman games).

Rayman Legends for Vita is out today in the US. It won't hit Europe until September 13th. We'll let you know what Ubisoft says about the missing 28 levels in due course.
