Overseas release of Bravely Default: Flying Fairy based on expanded 'For the Sequel' version

An odd controversy began brewing last week when Square Enix announced an enhanced version of the hit 3DS RPG Bravely Default: Flying Fairy for Japan.

With Bravely Default's release still pending here in the west - later in 2013 for Europe, 2014 for North America - many overseas fans wondered if they'd receive the original, vanilla release of Bravely Default or if they could look forward to the expanded version known as Bravely Default: For the Sequel.

Those fans will need wonder no more - the official Bravely Default Twitter announced that the western version is based on For the Sequel and it'll come packed with new features.

As we reported earlier, Bravely Default: For the Sequel offers many enhancements over the original version of the JRPG.

In addition to new story events and enhanced graphics for towns, For the Sequel introduces a faster battle tempo with the option to speed up the pace of attack effects or go full-on Auto Battle for faster XP grinding.

You can even adjust the random encounter rate to tone down the amount of combat if you'd rather focus on the story... although this might leave you a bit underleveled for the inevitable boss fights.

The Bravely Default Twitter also confirmed that the overseas edition will feature both Japanese and English voice tracks. Players can choose freely from Japanese, English, French, Italian, German, and Spanish options for in-game text.

We still don't have a release date or an idea of pricing yet, but we'll keep you updated when we know more.
