It's been awhile since we've heard anything about Junk Jack X, the sequel to the Bronze Award-winning sandbox builder Junk Jack.

Thankfully, Pixbits took to its blog to let us - and, well, the rest of the internet - know that Junk Jack X is chugging along on schedule and is 'almost ready to be sent to Apple' once the beta testing phase is completed.

There's no firm release date yet, but Pixbits reckons that it'll be available for our iPhones and iPads 'within some weeks'. It also let us know that Junk Jack X will cost $4.99 / £2.99, which sounds like a good deal considering the developer's guarantee that you need only pay once to get the whole game experience.

Junk Jack X features enhanced and smooth graphics over its predecessor, with a slick 16-bit look that will resonate with those who enjoy sprite-based RPGs.

In addition to the graphics overhaul, Junk Jack X features five alien planets full of resources for you to harvest. This translates to plenty of new junk for Junk Jack to collect, and mountains of new recipes for him to master.

We'll be sure to keep you up to date on news of a firm release date once we have it. Until then, click on the image gallery at the top of this article to see the new screenshots in their lustrous 16-bits of glory.
