Friend or FOE? Etrian Odyssey Untold: The Millennium Girl's new trailer gives a look at both

Atlus has given fans of first-person RPGs something to get excited about with new details on the upcoming Etrian Odyssey Untold: The Millennium Girl.

First up is a glimpse at the FOEs you'll encounter. These fearsome FOEs (short for Formido Oppugnatura Exsequens) are described as 'unique, puzzle-like enemies' and are visible in the various dungeons you'll explore - unlike random encounter enemies which pop in-and-out at will.

FOEs revealed include Furyhorns, Giant Moas, Boulder Boars, Jungle Killers, and Reaping Shades. Some, like the Jungle Killers and Boulder Boars, will try to ambush you while Reaping Shades will wait for you out in the open and chase you down if you're not careful.

Y2K's got nothing on her

Atlus also released a new story trailer that sheds some light on the time-travelling gunner Frederica Irving and the friends that she'll encounter on her quest to save Etria.

The anime cutscenes are really quite impressive, and should whet your appetite for Millennium Girl without giving too many details away.

And speaking of giving things away, Atlus also launched the full site for Millennium Girl which highlights the musical selection CD and special miniature artbook that you'll get if you pre-order the game.

The artbook might not be much of a draw, but the CD features exclusive live cuts of the opening theme and will appeal to the game music aficionados out there.

Etrian Odyssey Untold: The Millennium Girl will be released in North America on October 1. There is no word yet on a European release.
