[Update] Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition is back on the App Store after being pulled for 'contractual' reasons
Updated on August 16th, at 11:15: Since the publication of this article, Beamdog president Trent Oster has sent the following email to owners of Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition.

"We're back!

"Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition is available for sale once again. All outstanding issues with our publishing partner have been resolved.

"We'll announce the details of an upcoming major Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition patch and the Android tablet version in the near future. We'll also have some exciting news regarding Baldur's Gate 2: Enhanced Edition soon after.

"We want to thank our fans for the outpouring of support we received during this difficult time. Legal issues are never fun. We're glad we can once again focus on what matters - makin' video games!"

Towards the end of June, Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition, Beamdog's touchscreen reinvention of the classic BioWare RPG, was unceremoniously pulled from the App Store.

There were some legal and contractual wranglings, you see.

And while the full reasons for Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition's digital 'disappearing act' never came to light, the end result was the game got pulled from the App Store.

Furthermore, the Android version of the game was put on hold, and a proposed Baldur's Gate 2: Enhanced Edition fell by the wayside.

Well, it looks like those "contractual issues" have been resolved, for Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition has returned triumphantly to the App Store. There was no pomp, no announcement... it just sort of re-appeared.

Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition is a preened and polished version of the RPG classic. And while the controls left a little to be desired, there's a nostalgic streak running through the game that's difficult to ignore.

There hasn't been any word yet from Beamdog on whether the Android version of Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition is back in development, but we've contacted the studio for clarification on the matter.

If you'd like to celebrate the return of Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition by buying it, you can grab it from the App Store for £6.99 / $9.99 right now.
