The Drowning launches first raid boss mission - Toxic Beast Hunt is now on
For rare items and weapons
DeNA's new game The Drowning is stirring up plenty of debate.
But creative director Ben Cousins did warn us it would be innovative.
And there ain't much worthwhile innovation without some people getting their knickers in a twist.
Still, those players enjoying the touchscreen FPS will be pleased to hear that the first big event is now live.
All together nowCalled the Toxic Beast Hunt, and running until 14 August, it's a raid boss mission in which multiple players work together asynchronously - match-making happens automagically within the game - to take down a new type of enemy.
Your reward will be rare weapons and other useful equipment.
"It's really exciting to continue the momentum of our worldwide launch with our very first live gameplay event called the Toxic Beast Hunt," Cousins said.
"This is another real first for a mobile FPS - adding variety to the game in the form of a weeklong competition where our players worldwide get matched up to co-operate and compete to hunt and take down rare and powerful monsters hidden across our game world."
Gunning for AndroidMore good news comes as Cousins revealed to our sister site PocketGamer.biz that the Android version of The Drowning is almost done.
"The Android port is close to completion," he said.
"We'll complete that once we are happy that the game was a success on iOS and it warrants a port."
