Remakes and dragons and shuttles!

I'm going to mix things up a bit in the PS Vita Store update this week.

Rather than simply list every single new digital release for Sony's powerhouse portable, I'm going to make this round-up a bit more useful.

This involves my expanding more on the titles that really matter each week, and then listing "the rest" towards the end. You know, those titles you probably don't care too much about.

Do let me know in the comments how you feel about this new approach. And if you can think of any other ways to improve this weekly round-up, I'm all ears.

Let's crack on with this week's update, then...

Full-price releases

Floating Cloud God Saves The Pilgrims in HD! is the big one this week. The original PSP release was glorious: a sort of shmup from the gods, if you will.

This HD release for Vita isn't just about the new slick visuals. There's a whole new way to control the floating god now, you see, with the player movement and shot direction mapped to the two available analogue sticks.

There are also trophies, plenty of little tweaks, and some fixes. If you didn't play the original, you are in for a treat.

Floating Cloud God Saves The Pilgrims in HD! costs £2.99, and is available to download now. I got a copy for review today, so expect my thoughts on this sizzler soon.

The rest of the European store's fresh offerings aren't too noteworthy.

Die!Die!Die! is rubbish, Deathmatch Village looks decidedly mediocre, and BreakQuest: Extra Evolution Freemium is just a free-to-play version of a previous release.

The American PS Vita store, meanwhile, now stocks the wonderful Dragon's Crown. We're talking a massive RPG-style arcade brawler, with tens of hours of content to be found.

It's deep, it's hugely engaging, and it's completely essential. You'll spend hours just exploring the different characters and skill progressions.

That $39.99 price tag might seem steep. Believe me, though: it's worth every penny. Grab it!

Superfrog HD is also available on the PS Vita store this week. This carries a price tag of $9.99. It's great if you're into your old school platformers, but not so much if you enjoy more modern titles.

Sales, price drops, and PS Plus

There's a massive PS Vita and PSP sale on this week, with plenty of top-drawer games available at fantastic prices.

It'd take me ages to list them all here. Instead, then, I'll pick out the ones that I think you definitely need to grab.

F1 2011 is just £7.99, which is a steal. Thomas Was Alone for just £2.79 is a ridiculously good deal, too.

Meanwhile, Metal Gear Solid Peace Walker is going for £7.99, and the glorious Guacamelee! is just £7.99. Don't forget: Michael Jackson: The Experience HD is a mere £3.99.

And if you're a PS Plus member, you can get a further 10 percent off all those prices.

Speaking of Sony's digital subscription service, American PS Plus subscribers should note that they can currently get EscapeVektor for 20 percent off ($3.99), Superfrog HD for 20 percent off ($7.99), and Rayman Origins for just $6.75. $6.75? That's insane.

PlayStation Mobile releases

There's a couple of high-profile PS Mobile releases this week.

Shuttle Quest 2000 is the latest release from Thomas Hopper, and it looks lovely. It's a retro-styled action / RPG / shooter in which you gather together ship pieces and weapons to create your own unique Starship Enterprise.

You can download the first chapter for free, while the rest of the game costs £3.69. Definitely worth checking out.

Little Acorns is a nifty platformer about grabbing acorns before the time runs out. You swing and dodge and all sorts of squirrely things. £1.19 for that.

Right-ho, back next week!
