Update: Vivid Games confirmed that the Vita version of Real Boxing will come to Europe as well. Additionally, we've been informed that the Vita version will have many new features - like a combo system and the ability to target specific areas of your opponent - and will be more 'strategic' instead of 'casual'. Finally, the Vita version can be controlled via touchscreen or analog sticks. The original story follows.

Taking a full-on punch from a professional boxer isn't an easy thing to do, but it's about to get a lot easier - especially if you have a PS Vita.

Wondering what Sony's latest handheld has to do with the sweet science? Well, wonder no more - Vivid Games' Real Boxing is coming to the PS Vita in North America on August 27.

Unfortunately, the pugilism sim is coming with a bit of a price hike from its mobile availability; while 99c / 69p will get you an iOS or Android version of Real Boxing, you'll need to invest $9.99 on the PS Vita version.

Punch drunk

Real Boxing is powered by Unreal Engine 3 graphics, so it'll look a treat on the Vita's impressive 5" screen - although, we're not quite sure how it'll be controlled at the moment.

The posting on the PlayStation Blog didn't mention anything about analog sticks or the PS Vita's buttons, but we think it's safe to assume that you'll be using the touchscreen a fair bit given the swipe-based combat system which our review likened to Infinity Blade.

We've contacted Vivid Games for clarification on the controls and to see if Real Boxing will fight its way to the European PSN or if it'll reign in the ring in North America only.

This story will be updated as soon as we hear back.
