Back in June during its annual I/O conference, Google announced - among other things - Android 4.3 Jelly Bean and an Xbox Live-esque social gaming network called Google Play game services.

If the abovementioned announcements made you salivate, you'll be pleased to read that the search engine giant has just released the latest iteration of its popular mobile operating system.

According to Android Central, Android 4.3 is available as an over-the-air (OTA) update for the Nexus 4, which was released late last year.

Google has also released a Game Center-style Google Play Games app. This basically serves as a central hub for all of the games you played, the friends you've made, and the achievements you've sweated to unlock.

The Google Play Games app enables you to view both locked and unlocked achievements, as well as any leaderboards on which you've launched an assault. So, you can see how you stack up against your buddies, and gloat if you're kicking their backsides.

The Google Play Games app also features Google+ integration. This allows you to view the titles that members of your Circles have been playing, and get ideas for future downloads.

Google will pre-install the Google Play Games app on every Nexus 7 tablet, but you can also download it from Google Play right now for free [download].
