Match-three puzzle games aren't known for their soundtracks, but that'll change when the upcoming Beat Blocks hits the App Store.

In fact, it's safe to say that Beat Blocks will offer the best soundtrack of any match-three game to date - because it uses your iTunes library as the basis of its music and gameplay.

When you select a track to play, Beat Blocks draws on the song's beats per minute (BPM) to control block strobing, directional arrows, and gameplay length.

Because each song presents you with a unique style of board, each game of Beat Blocks will look, sound, and play differently.

Beat 'em up

Zaah notes that Beat Blocks will be a free download, but will only give players access to three songs from their library. A one-time purchase of 99c / 69p will unlock a player's entire iTunes library and open it up for play in-game.

Similar to other match-three games like Candy Crush Saga, the point of Beat Blocks is to line up three blocks of the same colour. Prism blocks will clear all blocks of the same colour off of the board, while Bomb Blocks add a bit of fun, collateral damage to your fast-paced matching.

Beat Blocks will land on the App Store for iPhone and iPad on July 22.
