Lineable is a match-three puzzler with a twist. And the twist is pipes.

Instead of matching coloured blobs of the same hue or trinkets of the same shape, here you're matching together lengths of pipe made up of three or more sections.

It might sound a little dull, and it certainly looks a little dull, like a Pipe Mania obsessive's take on Tetris, but the end result is a surprisingly playable, albeit thin, puzzler that will keep your fingers entertained for a bit.

Pipe down

The game is as much about speed as it is brainpower. Sections of pipe make up a grid. Some of these sections connect to make larger pipes, and drawing a line through three or more pieces clears them from the board.

The more you clear the more points you make. Clearing pipes in quick succession increases your multiplier and gets you even more points. The pipes you're clearing add a strange optical illusion-like quality to the game. Just because a pipe bends one way doesn't mean you can't clear it.

You earn coins as you play, which you can spend on boosts. These can highlight moves you might have missed, clear all the matches on the board at the moment, or let you start the game with a multiplier.

Games don't last very long, but there's usually a strong compulsion to have another go. A lack of leaderboards mean you're only chasing your own high score, which is fun for a while, but being able to compete against friends would be far more interesting.

Line out

After a couple of hours of frenzied play you'll have seen pretty much everything that Lineable has to offer. They'll be a fun couple of hours, for sure, but it's unlikely that you'll come back to the game once you get past that point.

Lineable is a fine example is bite-size, super-fast puzzling done right, and while it won't stick in the mind once you put it down it requires enough focus while you're playing to keep you engaged.

That engagement won't last forever, but you'll have fun until it ends.

Lineable

It might not have the depth to keep you coming back for more, but while Lineable has its claws in you you'll be smiling
