E3 2013: Mega Man is the new challenger in Super Smash Bros

During Nintendo's E3 broadcast, the firm revealed that Super Smash Bros for 3DS will be released in 2014.

Oh, and that it will feature two new characters: an Animal Crossing villager and platforming legend Mega Man.

Mega Man will appear in the game in his classic NES guise, and will be able to use abilities from franchise boss characters, like Metal Man, Crush Man, and Wood Man. His faithful dog Rush will appear in the game, too.

And judging by the Super Smash Bros trailer shown during the Nintendo Direct broadcast, it would appear that Wily's iconic castle will be a battlefield.

As for the Animal Crossing villager, this pint-size pugilist will be able to use equipment from Nintendo's quaint village simulator - like a shovel or axe - to fight.

Super Smash Bros

Old fighters will return to the fray in Super Smash Bros, by the way. They include Mario, Donkey Kong, Bowser, Link, Kirby, Pikachu, Kid Icarus hero Pit, and Metroid protagonist Samus.

Super Smash Bros will be out for 3DS and Wii U next year. We'll have more on the game when we get it.

For now, though, watch the new trailer below.
