E3 2013: PopCap confirms that Peggle 2 will be out this year

A sequel to PopCap's Pachinko-inspired time sink Peggle is coming this year. That's literally all the studio said on the matter, but what more could anyone really say?

In Peggle, you fire ball bearings at multi-coloured pegs with the help of a cast of wacky cartoon animals. It's silly and massively simple, but it's an addictive casual gaming romp nonetheless.

We gave the iPhone original a Gold Award, and said that "Peggle hits the jackpot in this ideal iPhone adaptation that's nothing short of a must-have".

It's worth noting that another of PopCap's much-loved franchises, Plants vs Zombies, has gone free-to-play for the sequel. It wouldn't be a surprise to discover Peggle 2 is a free app when it inevitably hits the App Store later this year.
