Luke Schneider (a.k.a. Radiangames) is one of our favourite iOS developers. He's responsible for the Silver Award-winning Inferno+ and the twin-stick shooter Ballistic SE, among others.

Well, good news, Android fans: Schneider has just launched his first game on Android. Rather brilliantly, Schneider has begun his 'droid revolution with his Silver Award-winning puzzler Slydris.

In this fresh twist on the Tetris formula, you have to slide blocks left and right so that they'll fit into empty spaces in the row below. If you fill an entire row with blocks, it will vanish.

But for every slide you make, a new row of blocks will drop from the top of the screen. So, it's a race to keep clearing lines before the entire play field is drowned in blocks.

You get bonus points for making chain reactions, and a special reward for filling in rows with blocks of only one colour. There are also special blocks like Shatter, Upcoming, Locked, and Magnet.

Slydris features three modes (Infinite, Zen, and Survival). You can pick your own background style and music.

In our Silver Award review of the iOS edition of Slydris, we called it "an engaging, neon-bright puzzler". We also said that "Slydris offers a tight, often frantic puzzling experience, all wrapped in a neon package, and with a soundtrack that fits the on-screen proceedings perfectly."

Slydris is available now on Google Play, priced £1.49.

On the Radiangames website, Schneider states that he will also port Inferno+ and Ballistic SE to Android, and upcoming puzzler CRUSH. An Android edition of Bombcats - the free-to-play failure that meant Radiangames will cease to be a full-time developer soon - is on the cards, too.

Updated on June 7th, at 16:00: Radiangames has revealed that it plans to launch one new Android game a week, starting with Slydris.

Next week, it will launch intense puzzle game CRUSH on iOS and Android simultaneously. Cuddly physics-puzzler Bombcats will then explode onto Android in the week commencing June 17th.

Inferno+ will hit Android around June 24th. And Ballistic SE will be out in the week commencing July 1st.
