[Update] BioWare's Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic is definitely destined for iPad
Updated on May 30th, at 17:00: Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic is now available on the App Store.

It's exclusive to iPad, costs £6.99 / $9.99, and is a 1.98GB download. Get it here.

Original story follows...

People love to argue about which is the best Star Wars game. Some think it's one of the X-Wing series; others reckon it's one of the Battlefront games.

All of those people are wrong.

The best Star Wars game is BioWare's epic RPG Knights of the Old Republic (KOTOR). And it's definitely heading to iPad soon.

We know that because IGN has just reviewed the touchscreen version of the game. What we don't know is when Aspyr's port of KOTOR is actually going to be available on the App Store.

Anyway. According to IGN, Aspyr has done a reasonable job of revamping the controls in KOTOR for touchscreens. So, yep, the swiping and tapping controls work pretty well.

For those of you out of the loop, KOTOR is set thousands of years before the original trilogy of Star Wars films. In it, you are cast as an aspiring Jedi Knight.

You'll choose to join the light or dark side of the Force, meet an interesting band of characters from Wookiees to retired Jedi, and traverse the galaxy in search of an evil Sith Lord who's up to no good.

KOTOR also stars the best robot in any video gaming world. Oh, and you can build and refine your own lightsaber here. I know.

We'll let you know as soon as Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic actually surfaces on the App Store. Shouldn't be too long, folks.
