Check out the debut trailer for Sega and Nintendo's first exclusive Sonic The Hedgehog collaboration
Lions sleeping with hedgehogs
People of a certain age will always get excited about a new Sonic The Hedgehog game. It doesn't matter how badly they've been burnt before -there's something about a hedgehog in sneakers that gets their juices flowing.
And there's more reason than usual to get excited about the upcoming 3DS and Wii U-exclusive game Sonic Lost World.
That's because Sonic Lost World is the first of three new Sega Sonic The Hedgehog games that will be published by Nintendo. This historic deal between Sega and Nintendo was announced during the Nintendo Direct broadcast a couple of weeks ago.
As for Sonic Lost World itself, we can expect to encounter six new bad guys (labelled "The Deadly Six") during our speedy travels and to utilise a bunch of "new moves".
As you can tell from the IGN-exclusive video above, the game bears an undeniable resemblance to the Super Mario Galaxy series, with its twisting levels that move around as you leap.
This being a Sonic game, though, there's plenty of speed and spinning involved, too.
There's no release date for the game yet beyond "2013", but we'll keep you posted on this as and when more info surfaces.
