The new game from Minecraft creator Mojang is called Scrolls. To be honest, it's been on our radar for over a couple of years. We're delighted to report, then, that it's about to enter public beta.

In Mojang's world, "public beta" means "going on sale", so Scrolls will be available on PC and Mac from June 3rd, priced £13 / £20.

In a newly posted launch trailer for Scrolls (see below), the guys over at Mojang show off what you can expect from the new game.

It looks like a mixture of deck-building CCG, boardgame, and tower defence. All of the online card trading, multiplayer modes, and depth you'd expect from a Mojang title are present and correct.

What's less clear, however, is the status of the tablet and smartphone versions of Scrolls. They were mooted a couple of years ago, but things have been quiet on that front ever since.

We certainly wouldn't be surprised to see Scrolls hitting the App Store and the Google Play Store, not least because the gameplay in the video above would translate pretty well to touchscreen devices.

We will, of course, let you know as soon as we get any solid information one way or the other.
