Back in 2011, the surprisingly cute Gabrielle's Ghostly Groove ranked as one of the only rhythm games available for Nintendo's then-struggling 3DS.

After finding some success on the handheld, its developer Natsume went on to create Gabrielle's Monster Match for iOS.

Now, Natsume is ready to bring the dark but endearing world of Gabrielle's Ghostly Groove back to the App Store with a pair of new titles: Gabrielle's Sweet Defense and Gabrielle's Zombie Attack.

Nothing to sneeze at

Gabrielle's Ghostly Groove begins when Gabrielle literally sneezes herself to death and wakes up as a ghost in Monsterville. Working with the helpful denizens of the town, Gabrielle soon finds that there's a lot to like about the afterlife and an enjoyable little romp ensues.

The two new iOS games are set in Monsterville, but take a different direction from the rhythm game that inspired them.

Gabrielle's Zombie Attack, for example, is something of a tower defence title as it centers around waves of zombies descending on the town.

While the townsfolk have a wolfman, witch, and vampire at their disposal, they decide instead to ask the 10-year-old Gabrielle to chase the zombies away by chucking mandrake plants at them.

Gabrielle’s Sweet Defense takes a slightly different angle and has Gabrielle defend a store of delicious pastries from a horde of hungry humans.

Natsume will have both games available at its E3 booth, so we'll be sure to provide new details once we score some hands on time with them.
