One of our jobs here at Pocket Gamer is to sieve through the hundreds of apps that hit the App Store and Google Play every single day, and unearth those glittering gems.

Lately, though, we've been giving you the chance to have YOUR say, too. Basically, we've been giving you the opportunity to tell us your favourite game from a shortlist of the week's best releases.

This week's votes have been counted (and recounted), and we have a winner: Impossible Road.

As you probably already know, Impossible Road is a rock-solid (but thoroughly entertaining) arcade game in which you have to guide a ball down a roller coaster-style track.

Sounds easy, right? Well, it isn't.

Said track has no sides, you see, so you can hurtle off it at any moment. Plus, it's full of hairpin bends, breakneck jumps, and dangerous banked curves.

Using a mixture of skill and luck, then, your aim is to negotiate these obstacles and pass through multiple point-scoring gates.

It's all about the high score

Impossible Road bagged a glittering Pocket Gamer Silver Award when it shot through out notorious review room late last week.

We called it "habit-forming gaming at its finest", while noting that it's "visually arresting" and "refreshingly unique".

Impossible Road developer Kevin Ng (a.k.a. Pixels on Toast) revealed last week that his personal high score is a whopping 278. Managed to beat it? Let us - and him - know in the comments section below.
