Indie awesomeness on PS Mobile

This week on the PS Vita Store: Rymdkapsel, Sine Mora, and Nun Attack
|

I've got bad news for all you PS Vita owners. I wouldn't exactly describe this week's PS Store update as 'great'. Or even 'good'.

If you're a PS Plus subscriber, though, well, you've got something to look forward to on the Store this week.

For everyone else, however, you'll probably want to look away. Don't, mind: I've spent literally minutes compiling this round-up. Oh, and there's another reason.

You see, as strange as it sounds, PS Mobile is the Vita's saving grace this week. This oft-overlooked section of the PS Store contains tons of new games, including a gorgeous-looking strategy game from a notable indie dev.

Intrigued? Of course you are. Read on and discover all.

Full-price releases

European Vita owners can download Frima Studio's extremely average action game Nun Attack this week. With its clumsy controls and hugely dull gameplay, it's not worth the £1.99 asking price. Believe me.

That's all the new full-price stuff on the European store, I'm afraid.

Americans, meanwhile, can look forward to, erm, absolutely nothing new at all. So, not a great week all round for new releases, eh.

There are some price drops in the US store, mind. You can now grab Assassin's Creed III Liberation for $26.99, for example. Elsewhere, Hot Shots Golf: World Invitational is now just $17.99.

Oh, and Retro City Rampage is on sale for $7.49. This is a ridiculously good price. Grab this game. Now.

PlayStation Plus games and offers

Hey, European PS Plus subscribers: there's a free game with your name on it this week. I know! Exciting, right?

Lovely bullet-hell blaster Sine Mora is completely free to download. You'll want to grab it sometime this month, mind, for it will most likely disappear next month.

PlayStation Mobile releases

Here's where it gets interesting...

True, Rymdkapsel may have a ridiculous name. Still, it's by far the most interesting new release on the PS Vita Store this week.

It's a strategy game by Martin Jonasson all about exploring space. There are elements of tower defence and base building thrown into the mix, too, though.

And here come the rest: Apocalypse Defense is a multiplayer tower defence game, priced £2.99. iFishing Saltwater sounds like a fishing game for iOS, and that's because it is! Somewhat annoyingly, it's picked up a £2.99 price tag on its journey from Apple to Sony, though.

You thought there was only one game about nuns this week, didn't you? Wrong. Look: Nunnageddon has just popped up and made you look silly. This arcade shooter costs £1.19.

Sola Radio appears to be, well, an online radio for the PS Vita. I've no idea if it works, but it looks pretty shoddy. 79p if you're intrigued.

Finally, VitaBounce "is rad as soup, therefore play it". That's taken from the PS Vita Store description of the game, by the way. Not from some random. Over the street.

PSP and PSone Classics

Just the one this week. Motto Trump Shiyouyo! is its name. Testing your skill at various card games is its aim. This one's a Japanese PSone import, incidentally. Just sayin'.

Among the collection of games available here are blackjack, poker, FreeCell, Daifugo (?!), and Shichinarabe (?!). Of course, if you don't read Japanese, you're probably going to have a problem with this one. Either way, it costs $5.99.

Back next week!
