There's been plenty of controversy about EA and Firemonkeys making Real Racing into a free-to-play racer.

But EA reckons it's now having the last laugh.

In its financial report for FY2013 (that's April 2012 to March 2013 in normal people time), it points out that in March 2013, the game had 2.5 million active players every single day.

Indeed, it's been downloaded more than 30 million times.

But that's not the only success on EA Mobile's slate.

The Simpsons: Tapped Out continues to make a lot of money for the company too.

With another $10 million generated in the first three months of 2013, the game has now almost generated $50 million for the company, since its re-release in autumn 2012.

And these are the reasons why while EA saw its sales drop 8 percent compared to FY2013 to $3.8 billion, EA Mobile saw its sales rise 26 percent to $339 million.
