Beautiful endless-runner Buddy & Me smashes through $40,000 Kickstarter target

Sunbreak Games has raised its Kickstarter funding goal of $40,000 for endless-runner Buddy & Me, leaving it on track to debut on iOS and Android in June.

In Buddy & Me, Sunbreak Games tells the story of an adventurous young boy who awakens to find his house transported up into the treetops.

Accompanied by an adorable flying creature (think Falcor from The NeverEnding Story), the boy has to jump, swing, and bounce his way through the forest canopy.

As you may or may not be aware, Sunbreak Games was founded by ex-Halo 4 and Metroid Prime dev Jason Behr.

According to Behr, he always felt - even when working on AAA console titles like Halo - "the exploration was more important to [him] than the combat."

As a result, Buddy & Me is designed to be a "more light-hearted, playful experience", in which the focus is on "companionship, and obsession with treehouses, and the natural excitement of exploring the great outdoors".

Sunbreak Games raised $42,093 in total in its Buddy & Me Kickstarter campaign. All being well, the finished game should go live on iOS and Android this June.
