Supercell has issued a massive new update to its tribalistic strategy game Clash of Clans. In version 3.124 of its immensely popular iOS game, Supercell introduces leagues, adds a new unit, and offers a cartload of tweaks.

The leagues are the biggest news here, for they enable dedicated players to compete in their own divisions. You'll need at least 400 trophies to join one. Once you're in, though, you'll get a loot bonus for every victory.

The higher you climb in the league, the bigger your bonus will be.

There's also a new unit. The Golem will keep on going, even if it is chopped in half. You'll need to upgrade your dark barracks to level four to unlock this guy, then use dark elixir to summon it.

Clash of Clans update

The town hall now goes to level nine, which means you can take your clan castle to level five and the hidden tesla to level seven.

In the world of clans, clan leaders can now send messages to their members, and clan tournaments now run for two weeks (and the reward has been doubled).

Supercell has also made lots of usability improvements and balance tweaks. You can get all the nitty-gritty details over at Supercell's forum.

This update is, like the game itself, completely free to download. You can grab it from the App Store now.
