Gameloft's popular first-person shooter Modern Combat 4 storms onto Windows Phone 8
Games without frontiers
Fans of Microsoft's Windows Phone 8 OS can now answer the call of duty on their handsets.
That's right, folks: Modern Combat 4: Zero Hour is now available from the Window Phone Store.
This Windows Phone 8 version of Gameloft's popular shooter sequel marks the first time the Modern Combat franchise has ventured into Windows Phone territory.
If you've never played a Modern Combat game before (and if you're rocking a Windows Phone, maybe you haven't), think Call of Duty on a mobile. That simple.
This means lots of first-person gunplay, disposable plots about foreign terrorists, and lots of international locales to reduce to rubble.
Since Modern Combat 4 is a hardware-intensive title, you're going to need a handset that will cut the mustard to run it properly. So long as you own a Windows Phone 8 device with at least 1GB of RAM, you're good to go, soldier.
The game is quite hefty, at around 1GB. The installation process also requires a lot of space - around 5GB, to be precise - so you'll probably want to check out your storage situation before attempting to download.
You can download Modern Combat 4 from the Windows Phone Store for £5.49 / $6.99 right now [buy]. If you want to try before you buy, mind, a free trial version is also available. To do so, just click the 'try' button on this page.
