Last week's PSN update was, to put it bluntly, a train wreck.

There was nothing new worth grabbing - in fact, we're pretty sure we spotted a digital tumbleweed rolling through the store.

This week is looking decidedly more acceptable, mind, thanks primarily to a rather big new release and a gorgeous free game (courtesy of PlayStation Plus).

There's also - shock, horror! - some actual PSone import games on the PS Vita Store this week. No need to rub your eyes: this is not a dream. I repeat: this is not a dream.

Let's do this...

Full-price releases

Guacamelee! should be the only Vita game on your radar this week. It's a Metroidvania-style platformer that's dripping with Mexican culture and hilarity.

If our review alone doesn't tempt you to shell out for it, then the £9.99 / $14.99 price tag surely will. (And if you're a PS Plus subscriber, keep on reading...)

Next up is International Snooker, which went live a few weeks ago, but has now had its name tweaked slightly so that it doesn't include '2012' any more.

You can, apparently, now buy Steve Davis's (possibly) all-time favourite portable game for the cut-down price of £4.99. I say 'apparently' because I can't find a way to purchase it on the store. Hmm.

Finally, there's Table Mini Golf, a neat-looking AR game in which a miniature golf course pops up on your kitchen table ready for you to conquer. That's all thanks to your Vita's camera. Say 'thanks'. There you go.

Sales-wise, a few Vita games have had their large price tags replaced with smaller ones in the US.

Lego Batman 2
and Lego The Lord of the Rings, for example, are both now half price (at $19.99 and $29.99, respectively).

PlayStation Plus games and offers

Here's where the magic happens...

PS Plus subscribers in Europe can now grab the glorious Zero Escape: Virtue's Last Reward for free.

It's a visual story / puzzle game all about jumping through different time frames and doors and numbers and - oh, my goodness - just thinking about it is hurting my head. Pick this one up, folks.

And both Europeans and Americans can also get 20 percent off the full Guacamelee! price for the next two weeks. Might as well grab it now while you remember.

There aren't any PlayStation Mobile releases at all this week, so we'll move swiftly on to...

PSP and PSone Classics

A huge number of PSP games have been given the discount treatment this week in the US, including the likes of the God of War series, LittleBigPlanet PSP, and the SOCOM games.

Rather than run you through each and every one of the discounted two-dozen games, I reckon you ought to visit the online store yourself and see them listed in a neat fashion. How lovely.

As for PSone games, well, there's a whole bunch of Japanese imports.

Evergreen Avenue - for $5.99 - is a puzzle / simulation game about reforming the bond between humanity and the celestial realm. Righty-ho.

Elsewhere, Favorite Dear - Jyunpaku No Yogensha costs $5.99, and is an RPG / simulation hybrid featuring angels.

Zero Kara No Mahjong Youchien Tamago-Gumi, meanwhile, is a mahjong game, so we'll leave that one alone, shall we?

Back again next week!
