Unreleased WiiWare title Animales de la Muerte gets resurrected on iOS and Android

High Voltage Software's repeatedly delayed line-drawing WiiWare, PSN, and XBLA game Animales de la Muerte is finally going to see the light of day this month.

However, it won't be surfacing on the platforms we all expected.

Announced all the way back in 2008, Animales de la Muerte, which centres on a zombie outbreak in a Mexican zoo, was initially intended to be a downloadable title for the Wii.

After over two years of waiting, Nintendo fans were told that the game would not be gracing the Wii Shop's virtual shelves.

Instead of launching Animales de la Muerte on the WiiWare service, then, High Voltage announced it would release the rotting romp on Xbox Live Arcade and PlayStation Network. At the time of writing, it's still listed as an "unreleased demo" on High Voltage's website, though.

Last week, however, we discovered that the newly christened Zoombies: Animales de la Muerte is set to bypass the home console scene altogether. It will, in fact, hit iOS on April 18th.

It appears the gameplay has changed significantly over the past five years. Gone is the 3D free-roaming action of the original build. Instead, the dev has created a 2D version based around defensive gameplay, and added line-drawing mechanics to suit touchscreen devices.

High Voltage caught our eye recently when it launched another Wii original, The Conduit, on the Google Play Store.

You will be able to download Zoombies: Animales de la Muerte on iOS from April 18th. An Android version is expected to surface on Google Play in May.
