Swing to win in Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D for 3DS on May 24th

Remember that 3DS port of excellent Wii platformer Donkey Kong Country Returns we mentioned last month?

Well, we've just found out that it'll be swinging onto Nintendo's latest handheld console on May 24th.

After the bongo-controlled antics of Donkey Kong Jungle Beat, Donkey Kong Country Returns was seen as a, err, return to form for the franchise.

There was the reintroduction of vine swinging, and the inclusion of some brand-new mine cart levels. Oh, and a non-musical control scheme.

Unlike the original version of Donkey Kong Country Returns - which was developed by Retro Studios - this forthcoming 3DS conversion is being handled by Monster Games.

If that name sounds familiar, it's because Monster Games is the outfit behind recent aeronautical outing Pilotwings Resort.

In our opinion, Donkey Kong Country Returns's classic 2.5D platforming is perfectly suited to the 3DS. It'll also provide non-Wii adopters with the perfect opportunity to have a crack at a somewhat overlooked gem.

Mark May 24th in your calendar as DK-Day.
