[Update] Sega teases Hatsune Miku: Project Diva F for western PS3 release, is Vita version coming as well?

The fatuous first lady of Vocaloid, Hatsune Miku, might - and we stress, might - make her official Project Diva debut in the west.

Earlier today, Sega posted a banner picture for Hatsune Miku: Project Diva F on its Facebook page with a request for fans to like and share the image if they "want Hatsune Miku: Project Diva F for PS3 in the west".

The Project Diva series of rhythm games debuted in Japan in 2009 and has been popular enough to merit a special edition Miku-themed PS Vita. Yet despite this domestic success, none of the five main Project Diva games have been released in the west.

Instead, Sega Mobile has brought Project Diva spin-offs like Miku Flick and Miku Flick /02 to western Vocaloid fans with iOS devices.

The core Project Diva games have only been available to those willing to import or pirate them.

The news of a western PS3 release of Hatsune Miku: Project Diva F may not seem overly encouraging to Vita owners, but some may remember that a Vita version of the game was available for demos at Sony's E3 2012 booth.

We've reached out to Sega Mobile to see if there are any plans for an official western release of the Vita version of Project Diva F and we'll keep you updated as soon as we hear anything.

Updated on March 7th, 16:27 - Well, that was fast! A representative from Sega Mobile returned our email inquiry and said only that Sega is "just gauging fan interest for the title".
