Recently announced endless-runner Sonic Dash is set to speed onto the App Store at midnight tonight.

Given the trend for Temple Run-style endless-runners on mobile devices, Sonic Dash represents something of a no-brainer for Sega and its subsidiary studio Hardlight.

In Sonic Dash - as you might expect - you will have to guide the Blue Blur down hazardous paths filled with barriers, spikes, and enemies.

To keep Sonic moving forward, you'll have to swipe the screen to leap over and dive under obstructions.

Unleash the Dash move, however, and you'll trigger a speed boost which will enable him to smash through obstacles without breaking stride.

As you progress through Sonic Dash, you'll be able to purchase power-ups, like revives and head starts, using the rings you collect. This virtual bank balance can be topped-up via IAPs if desired.

Plus, if you get sick of staring at a hedgehog's caboose, you can play as Sonic's longtime sidekick Tails, his nemesis Knuckles, or squeaky-voiced irritant Amy.

You'll be able to buy Sonic Dash from the UK and US App Stores for £1.49 / $1.99 at midnight tonight.
