You can now play asynchronous multiplayer Civilization Revolution (if you're prepared to pay)

Good news, Sid Meier fans: the iPhone and iPad editions of Civilization Revolution have just been updated with a bunch of new content, including a long-awaited multiplayer mode.

So, yeah, that's the good news.

Unfortunately, if you want to access any of the new content, you'll have to put your hand in your pocket and splash some cash on in-app purchases.

All seven of the DLC packs introduced in this update are locked behind a paywall.

The most exciting of these new DLC packs is a £1.99 / $2.99 multiplayer pack, which features two asynchronous game modes that pit you against three of your friends.

There's also a 69p / 99c pack that contains four new Wonders, and four additional 69p / 99c packs that unlock new units and buildings for some of the game's races.

You can, of course, save yourself a little bit of cash by purchasing the Civilization Master Bundle (which contains all five 69p / 99c packs) for £2.49 / $3.99.

You can currently grab both the iPhone [buy] and iPad [buy] versions of Civilization Revolution for 69p / 99c a pop.
